This heavy duty hammer drill is awesome! I bought it to drill ONE HOLE in the wall of my pump house, but have used it oodles of times since. It is a HEAVY DUTY hammer drill that drills a hole in concrete like it was drilling through butter.
I needed to drill a 1 1/4 inch hole in the concrete wall of my pump house. The concrete is about 5 inches thick. I tried using a star bit and hammer. (I was about 1/16 of an inch deep in 30 minutes) So, I called to see if I could have a professional drill the hole. The nearest person who would do it is 40 miles away and had a $300 minimum fee. Since I thought I was going to only drill one hole, I tried to buy one at Harbor Freight, but all the stores within 50 miles were out of the unit that was big enough to drill a hole larger and 1 inch. I did get the SDS MAX bits for the drill at Harbor Freight.
So, I bit the bullet and ordered the Dewalt Rotary Hammer Drill. Wow! This tool really pounds and drills it way through concrete. It took about 3 minutes to drill the hole. I ended up also drilling a 1 inch hole in the wall for new electrical.
POOL TIE DOWNS – A few months after I purchased the Dewalt Hammer Drill, I needed to put holes in the concrete for pool tie downs.
REMOVING PLASTER/CEMENT ON CHIMNEY – I used the chisel bit to quickly strip a layer of plaster/cement off of a chimney I wanted exposed. (I actually started out doing it by hand… then remembered the chisel bit for the hammer drill.)
TAKING DOWN BRICK FIREPLACE – The house I’m renovating has a massive 1960’s style brick wall surrounding the fireplace. (15 feet wide by 8 feet tall) Again, the hammer drill with the chisel blade brings it down with ease
