If you plan to put up drywall… BUY THESE TWO TOOLS. You will thank me. I have always put up sheetrock with a cordless screwdriver. It seemed to work pretty well but since I had a ton of sheetrock to put up, I bought the DeWalt cordless drywall screwdriver and collated screw accessory. It took only one sheet of drywall to come to the realization that this tools is indispensable.
PERFECT SCREW DEPTH – I am on my second bucket of drywall screws and 95% of them were countersunk perfectly. (A few times I got them in crooked or the 125 year old wood caused the screw to break.) I have tried the auto-clutch attachments for my cordless drill but this gun puts the screw in fast and perfect. You can adjust the depth you want the screws on the drill.
AUTO-FEED SCREWS – The Collated Magazine Accessory is a must. It puts screws in as fast as you can move the drill and pull the trigger. It too allows you to adjust the screw depth. The BEST FEATURE is that you can put the screw in ONE HANDED. How many times have you been trying to hold the sheet of drywall… and hold the drywall screw… and hold the screwdriver. With the attachment, you just put the end of it up against the sheet and pull the trigger… perfect screw every time.
COLLATED SCREWS – This tool uses almost any of the collated screws. I use the Senco DuraSpin and they work great. There are 50 screws on each strip and they go in so quick, you are changing strips every few minutes. (But, it is super simple to install a new strip.) They are a bit more expensive than bulk drywall screws… but not much. They run about 1 1/2 cents per screw and bulk drywall screws about a penny. (From Amazon, many of the non-collated drywall screw packages run about a nickel a screw!)
SCREWS JAMMING – On the Amazon reviews, some people complain about the screws jamming. It has happened to me a few times. But, it’s been my own fault. I’ve either tried to put the screw in crooked or pulled the trigger and started to drive the screw and stopped. But, I just pull the screw out with needle nose pliers and get back to work.
