My wife ended up purchasing this portable scaffolding by mistake and it is one of the BEST MISTAKES EVER. She had driven to Harbor Freight to pick up a DRYWALL LIFT for me. She called and said they had portable scaffolding on sale too. (I thought is was the short light weight scaffolding.) When she got home I was surprised at the size of it.
I put it together and found that the lowest setting was to high for the ceiling project I was working. It was to much of a headache to take it back apart and send it back. So I kept it and made a modification (see below) that transformed it into the PERFECT SCAFFOLDING.
Here is a link to the Harbor Freight website.
NO MORE SORE FEET – Standing on a ladder all day kills my feet. This scaffold is just like standing on the floor… only higher. I’m even able to “walk or scoot” the scaffold around on it’s 5 inch caster so I don’t need to get off to move it. (I know it would be safer to lock the wheels… but it is perfect for a lazy person.)
MODIFICATION FOR LOWER HEIGHT – The lowest setting it 28 inches high and I needed a height about half that. After looking closely at it, I decided to raise the steel rails and make a simple 2×4 base to put the steel reinforced wooden plank on. It worked PERFECTLY. Below I have some pictures of the modification.
INSULATION INSTALL – The scaffolding made installing ceiling insulation a snap. I cut the insulation, laid it on the scaffolding, climb up and start installing it from one side to the other. The high end rails of the scaffolding help keep the insulation from coming down. (Which always happens when the insulation is dangling down to the floor.) In the picture you can see my favorite pneumatic stapler hanging off the rail.
