I LOVE these things. I have three inexpensive laser levers and use them all the time. These devices project a horizontal level laser line around the room. Each also projects a vertical level line. They are self leveling, so you just put them at the height you want the line and they project a level line.
FLOOR LASER LEVEL – This device has been a life saver. The house I am currently renovating has floors that are NOT LEVEL. Some slope as much as 2 1/2 inches over a distance of 10 feet. (You could almost use them as a skateboarding ramp.)
This level is unique in that it projects the laser line at the BOTTOM of the level. So, I am able to set it so it projects a line at the finished level of the floor. Visit my site, MyVintageReno.com, to see HOW TO LEVEL A FLOOR.
LASER LEVEL 1 – This is the first laser level I purchased. It is self leveling and projects a super bright red laser light both vertically and horizontally. Using three AA batteries, it has worked flawlessly for me.
LASER LEVEL 2 – I’m embarrassed to say I purchased this laser lever because I thought my other level was not quite level. (The house was so out of plumb, I didn’t trust the level.) But, when I put them side-by-side, they both projected a line exactly the same.
The red laser beam isn’t quite as bright as my other level, but this one is quite a bit cheaper.
Having a tall tripod to mount the laser level is a must. I’ve tried putting it on a ladder. Then, using stacked boards to get it to the correct height. Trust me, a tall tripod is much easier.
