The Blink security camera is super simple to setup and even easier to view remotely. I have owned multiple versions of security camera systems and this is the easiest to setup and use. It is also amazingly mobile.
You can use the Blink camera anywhere you have wifi. You don’t need a power outlet or any connecting cables. To start using the camera, you just plug in the controller device. Connect it to your wifi system. (I hooked mine up directly to the wifi router.) Then, using the app, just aim your phone camera at the QR code under the back cover of the camera. And POOF, it is connected. The camera can then be mounted or setup anywhere. I have some mounted on the wall, some mounted to trees, a few mounted under the eaves of my house, one mounted to a tree stump, and others just sitting on furniture. They are absolutely amazing.
LAKE HOUSE CAMERAS – My sister is having a house built near a lake 200 miles from her house. I setup four of these cameras pointed at the house so she can watch the construction remotely. (It probably took me 15 minutes to set EVERYTHING up.) She shared the app password with her kids so they can watch the construction too.
I mounted two of the cameras under the eaves of my cabin aimed at her construction site. (Her house is being built next to mine:-) I mounted one to a tree stump in the front of the house with a plastic container over the top to keep it from being buried in snow. I attached another one high in a tree behind the house.
RENOVATION HOUSE CAMERAS – I have three Blink cameras setup at the house I am renovating. It is nice to be able to keep an eye on the sub-contractors who occasionally work at the house. Two of the cameras are mobile. I just set them on a counter or shelf to monitor what is going on. I can move them from one room to the other depending on where construction is going on.
I turn the cameras on and off manually depending on what I want to check on. I also have the cameras automatically start monitoring through the night.
BATTERY LIFE – The one concern I had was how long the batteries would last. Each camera takes 2 Lithium AA batteries. The say you can get up to 2 years out of one set of batteries. Depending on the usage, I usually get about 9 months out of each set. If the cameras are near a power outlet, you can skip changing the batteries by connecting them to power.
I purchased the outlet wall mount for a few of my cameras. (Although, I like the look of the camera with no connection, I don’t have to worry about changing out the batteries.)
OUTDOOR BLINK CAMERA – The Blink camera comes in two versions. I have some of the indoor cameras and most are the outdoor camera. The outdoor camera seems more versatile. It can be used indoors or outdoors and has a built in thermometer so you can check the temperature remotely.
Camera with sync module. (You need one sync module for up to 10 cameras.)
