If you are thinking about adding crown molding to your house, this item is a must. This jig allows you to make the coping cut with your jig saw instead of a hand held coping saw. It takes a bit of getting used to… but it 1000% easier than using a coping saw.
I installed crown molding in my current home and am adding it to the house I am renovating. When I first tried adding crown molding I thought I could just cut the molding at a 45 degree angle with my miter saw. (It doesn’t work!) So, the way to do it successfully is to cut a backward 45 degree angle on one of the pieces and use a coping saw to trim back into the 45. (It sounds complicated but gets to be pretty simple after a while.) But, it is a real workout and headache.
This device allows you to use your jig saw instead of the coping saw. It holds the jig saw at the correct angle. With a bit of practice it is a snap.
