This 11 inch double sided knife is perfect for cutting rock wool insulation. I am using rock wool insulation for the first time in the home I am currently renovating. I pulled a ton of the old black rock wool out of the walls and ceilings. I never would have guessed I would be putting rock wool back. But, after a ton of research, it looks like it is the best insulation for R value and sound dampening.
I actually really like the new rock wool. It fits nicely into the wall and ceiling cavities and stays in place. The batt’s are dense so you end up cutting and carving them to size with a serrated knife. I started out using a long bread knife and it actually worked pretty well. I saw this knife on Amazon’s website and decided to give it a try. It is MUCH BETTER than the bread knife.
One side has coarse serrations and the other side has fine serrations. I’ve used it to cut a lot of insulation and the blade is still very sharp.
