This electronic tool allows you to digitize video. If you are an old person like me, you have oodles of video tapes. These things are pretty useless in the digital world. This simple device connects to your VCR or other analog video source and converts the signal to digital. It’s simple to use and does a great job. When done, you can save, view and...
Epson EcoTank Printer
This isn’t your normal DIY tool… but I had to share my amazing knew printer. Finally, someone invented a printer that makes it affordable to print in color. The printer has super sized ink tanks that are easy to fill from small bottles of ink. My last inkjet printer had small ink cartridges that were expensive, tiny, and short lived. It seemed like every month...

Work Apron
A work apron makes is MUCH EASIER to tackle jobs around the house or job. This apron is one of my favorites. For years I used a tool belt with suspenders, but lately I’ve found an apron with a bunch of pockets works better. I load it up with the tools I need for a specific project and it saves me walking back and forth...
Dewalt 18v to 20v Adapter
Yippee! I can finally use my old Dewalt 18 volt tools with my 20 volt batteries. This simple adapter plugs into your 18 volt tools. Then, just slip your 20 volt batteries in. I’ve tried it on all of my old tools and they seem to work just about the same or a bit better. (I think the 2 extra volts give them a bit...
Insulation Knife
This 11 inch double sided knife is perfect for cutting rock wool insulation. I am using rock wool insulation for the first time in the home I am currently renovating. I pulled a ton of the old black rock wool out of the walls and ceilings. I never would have guessed I would be putting rock wool back. But, after a ton of research, it...
Dewalt Table Saw
This table saw has a 32 1/2 inch rip capacity! Do I need to say more. It is so nice to have the ability to rip a wide piece of plywood to the size you need. It’s got plenty of power and features. Here are a few of my favorite features: ONBOARD STORAGE – The saw has built in places to store the push stick,...

Circuit Breaker Finder
This device allows you to quickly find which breaker controls an electrical receptacle. Simply plug the transmitter into the receptacle and head over to your breaker box. Hold the receiver up to the breakers in the breaker box and move it around until you have the strongest signal. That is the breaker that controls the circuit. I have had a few issues with the device....
For years, I’ve used a right angle drill attachment for my drill. It is a pain in the neck to use. Recently, I purchased a Dewalt Right Angle Cordless drill. I love it. I wished I would have bought one earlier. It has plenty of power and the battery lasts most of the day under heavy use. I’ve used it most for drilling electrical wire...
About me
Although I spent most of my life as a classroom teacher, I have always been interested in the latest tools, gadgets, and gizmos. From a young age, I roamed the aisles of my dad’s True Value Hardware store playing with the tools and gadgets. I would bring home the defective power tools, tear them apart, try to figure out how they worked, and attempt getting them working again. (I ended up buying the hardware store after my dad retired.)
On this site, I plan on sharing some of the COOLEST DIY TOOLS I can find. And… let you know what I think of them.
